This article about the beginnings of my “Send Me Nudes” project. I’ve been collection nude selfies from strangers and friends for years now. They are a part of a Project called Long Distance Photo Affair. It initially began as an idea to get nude selfies, print them, make a collage with handpainted details and send them back as a resin finished art piece.
But as I was immersing myself with different materials and possibilities, it grew to be an idea more prominent than the original. I am now experimenting with 3 D printed molds, to insert a series of cubes, each with a face of one of the images and resin finish them into a separate block of images…into objects, and lights, jewelry, and furniture…
This is supposed to be easy to assemble and travel with for multiple shows everywhere. I will be sharing more of the project, printings, and details about them here. I will treat and evaluate each photo for its need to be raw or painted over. I am excited about this one. It involves a significant amount of coordination, planning, prototyping, and a bit of engineering.
As always, this project is anonymous and no faces are ever used.
